About

A cost report should say who, and how sure.

Most organizations can read their cloud bill. Few can say which team, feature or customer each line was for, or how much of the answer is measured rather than guessed. CostReveal exists to close that gap honestly.

Why we build it

Trust is the product.

AI, cloud and API spend now grows faster than the tools that explain it. The usual answer is a dashboard that reports every dollar with the same confidence, spreads what it cannot place across teams, and leaves finance and engineering arguing about whose number is right.

We think the better answer is a system of record for what spend is for. One that attributes each cost to the people behind it, labels how it knows, shows the part it cannot explain yet, and reconciles every period to what the provider billed.

That is a harder product to build. It is also the only kind of cost report a CFO and an engineer can both rely on.

Principles

What we will not compromise on.

  • Show the unknown

Spend that cannot be explained is shown as Unknown, with its amount and what would explain it. It is never spread across teams to make a report look complete.

  • Evidence over confidence

Every figure carries its basis, from measured to unknown, and says whether an invoice confirms it yet. A number is only as strong as the evidence behind it, and the product says which is which.

  • Tie out to the invoice

What CostReveal attributes must add up to what the provider billed, to the cent, every period. Where the provider states a second total, each month is checked against it, and a difference is shown, never absorbed.

  • Reading only, by design

CostReveal needs to see spend, never to change infrastructure. It only ever reads billing data, with access read only wherever the provider allows it, and every organization is isolated in the database itself.
